The purpose of our investigation was to evaluate the potential applicability of a physiotherapy-led, integrated care program for elderly patients leaving the emergency department (ED-PLUS).
Elderly patients admitted to the emergency department with various undiagnosed medical complaints and discharged within 72 hours were randomly assigned, using a 1:1:1 ratio, to standard care, a comprehensive geriatric assessment in the emergency department, or ED-PLUS (NCT04983602).
